Adolescent Girls Report Dance Has Positive Influence

Adolescent girls in Sweden reported that an 8-month dance intervention program had a positive influence on their self-esteem and confidence. Some 140 girls selected for the study had visited the school nurse with complaints often associated with stress or low self-esteem. About half of the girls were randomly placed in the intervention group, where they were given dance classes two times a week for 8 months.
